The operation was successful, and I found the physical therapy to be somewhat less strenuous than I had imagined. The overall results have produced a totally pain free knee capable of supporting long walks, stair climbing with ease, bicycle rides, swimming, golf, and vigorous table tennis.

I can tell you from personal experience that the results have exceeded my expectations. My kids ask me quite often “How’s your knee today”? Without hesitation I tell them that I seriously don’t even notice that I’ve had knee replacement surgery.

I am three weeks post op for a double replacement and am exhausted.
I can walk unassisted and have a bend of 116'.
The pain is just bearable at night a little more.
I am trying to stop pain meds but can't seem to go any longer than 6 hours.
Also using Tylenol.
any suggestions.
when will the exhaustion subside?

it will get better. I too was exhausted at three weeks. I think the pain meds made me so tired. I am three months now after tkr and have a lot more energy. I only take my pain meds for physical therapy three times a week as it still hurts a lot to bend the knee and the meds do help take the edge off. I don't need meds anymore for daily activities and didn't have any withdrawal. Hang in there, it will get better and better.

I hate to be a Debbie downer but I am post tkr 25 months I am still in Chronic pain in pain meds have been to 7 different doctors and nobody seems to know why I still can’t walk and suffering front the pain

Very well explained story. it is the positive attitude that help you recover early. Courage to face physiotherapy exercises goes a long way.

10-weeks post OP and I have 140 degrees flexion. I will eventually work to 150 cuz that’s where I started. I am walking nearly normal and one can barely tell I have a limp (until it swells & I have to limp). I took PT very serious; did PT 2-3x daily. Stretch it all the time every hour of the day (Knee raises, high March posture).. lots of stair knee bends for ROM. Rode my recumbent bike often and soft squats with light weights to build strength in my quads. getting better every week (not every day!) as this is a rough and tough recovery! Left Knee scheduled for July! hoping for another successful fix-me-up!

one week out and my calf muscles hurt more than my knee. sometimes I do feel like two steps forward 3 back. I am sleeping ok and I stretch all day long but still can’t put weight on it

I was moving better than I had in years and really no pain. I was quite happy with my new knee.
