Right leg TKR numb toe

I struggled for years with excruciating pain in my right knee.
However due to NHS cuts my GP was reluctant to refer me to the surgeon.
Eventually after a visit to Casualty when I was dragging my leg the A&E doctor said I needed a TKR.
My GP then sent me to see the consultant who agreed. So on 6/6/18 I had my right TKR.
So far it’s been a nightmare. Nobody prepared me for how I would feel. I expected to bounce back and be back to ‘normal’ in 5-6 weeks.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Cried buckets.
My leg is so so swelled and tight. And I have numbness in my foot just on the instep and little toe.
Going back to GP today to get checked. So far this is not one of my better decisions.

I am sorry to hear your surgery experience has not been good for you. I had my RTKR on June 20, 2018. I have found a lot of support and information through some online forums and that advice has gotten me through the tough times. This journey is unique to each person, but knowing what you might expect and reading what others have gone through is invaluable information. Bonesmart.org has been, for me, the most helpful. There is also a Total Knee Replacement support group on FB that can give you lots of feedback. Wishing you a better recovery!
