I am in pain all the time. I have a book the hospital sent me before my surgery. I did all the leg exercises before my surgery. Have been doing Weight Watchers and lost a lot of weight. I thought I was I was in good shape for my surgery. In the book it says every 2 weeks what I should be doing distance wise on walks. I only had an in-home Physical Therapist for 2 weeks, 3 appointments a week. Then she left me with 20 leg exercises I was required to do twice a day.
I was doing my walks, increasing the distance every 2 weeks but was in so much pain. And my doctor would only give me pain medicine for the first 2 weeks. Tylenol helped for awhile but not anymore. I had my 6 week checkup with my doctor last week. He told me the inside and outside of my knee looked great. And I was getting flexion to 110° which was good. He said he thinks the reason I was having all the pain was because I was doing too much. He told me to throw out the book because that was just a general guideline. He put me on two weeks of no exercise. This is the start of my second week. No walks, no leg exercises. He thinks after two weeks my pain should be reduced. But I’m telling you this is getting so old. I feel like I’m never going to be pain free. I have been getting depressed. Today was a particularly bad morning where I’ve been crying on and off quite a bit because of the pain. I found this group and it made me feel better and worse. LOL. It made me feel better because I am not alone now knowing other people are having the same issues. It made me feel worse because it sounds like I may have a few more months of this before I turn the corner. I definitely am in that group that is not happy yet that I got the surgery done. Thanks for listening.
